August 3-7 2011 Camping with your Dog: (in South Central Colorado)
*Escape the heat! 4 nights/5 days camping with your canine in the cool mountains of the Rio Grande National Forest.
*Includes meals from Wed lunch to Sunday lunch, tent sites with water and toilets, all training activies. (Tents are NOT provided but rentals can be arranged)
*Activities include: Basics, Guided Hiking and Pack dog work, Scent work , Fun and Games, Fungility and Confidence Course work on a nearby ranch, Toy making, Canine Massage and more plus all the relaxation you could hope for.
*We are camping near a great fishing river for those who want to kick back with their dog a bit.
*Don't forget the nightly campfire.
*Normal August temps here are 40-80 degrees but most afternoons hover near 70 degrees. Brief afternoon showers are likely.
August 8 & 10 2011 5-8:30pm (Ranch Setting, Del Norte, Colorado)
August 9 & 11 2011 5-8:30pm (Dog Days Inn, Alamosa, Colorado)
Basics and Beyond: learning with your dog in a fun, rewards-based setting (Dog Days Inn, Alamosa, Colorado) Cost: $85 dog/handler team per night; $150 for both nights . Contact Lisa Knaggs, www.relaxyourdog.com to register.
*Learn or practice the three things you need no matter what: "stay where you are," "come to me," and "walk nicely" (on/off leash). For dogs who are already excelling at these basic skills, we will practice working against increasing distractions (can you say "real life?")
*Prepare your dog to take and then test for the AKC's Canine Good Citizen. This 10 item test demonstrates your dog's training, social skills, & ability to make good choices as a well-behaved dog in public situations. Always a handy thing to have in your pocket, many organizations consider this is a first step toward qualifying as a therapy dog.
*Confidence building/fungility exercises to deepen the relationship and further develop communication skills between dogs and their guardians.
* The "why" of what we're doing and explain some canine learning theory to help you remember what you've learned! Plus, we'll incorporate some calming techniques like massage, TTouch®, and music that is psychoacoustically designed and proven to calm dogs and their people!
What a great summer in the Rockies 2010. Camping with your Dog was a huge hit. Worked with shelter dogs in the San Louis Valley and Loved the Pack Dog Training near Vail!
